Web of Science is a comprehensive research database that provides access to a vast collection of scientific literature and citation information. Developed by Clarivate Analytics, Web of Science covers a wide range of disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, engineering, and the arts and humanities. It offers a powerful search interface that allows users to explore academic journals, conference proceedings, books, patents, and more. One of the key features of Web of Science is its citation indexing, which enables researchers to trace the influence and impact of scholarly works. The database includes detailed citation data, such as references cited and times cited, facilitating the identification of influential papers and the tracking of research trends over time. Web of Science also offers tools for citation analysis, allowing researchers to evaluate the impact of their own work or compare the performance of different researchers, institutions, or journals. It provides metrics such as the h-index, which measures both the productivity and impact of a researcher's publications. For more information about Web of Science, see here.

Web of Science includes the following searchable indexes:

  • Arts and Humanities Citation Index
  • BIOSIS Citation Index
  • Current Contents Connect
  • Data Citation Index
  • Derwent Innovations Index
  • KCI-Korean Journal Database
  • MEDLINE
  • Preprint Citation
  • Science Citation Index
  • SciELO Citation Index
  • Social Sciences Citation Index
  • Zoological Record

Links Article Match Retrieval (Links AMR) Service

As part of our subscription, Clarivate provides the University with access to the Links Article Match Retrieval (Links AMR) service. The University's entitlement for the Links AMR service is as follows:

  • Ability to search against Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports on the Web for our subscription range.
  • Values that may be returned from a successful Web of Science search:
    • DOI
    • Times Cited
    • Link to Related Records Link
    • Link to Web of Science Full Record
    • Link to Citing References
  • Values that may be returned from a successful Journal Citation Report search:
    • Link to Journal Citation Report five year trend graph
  • A bandwidth throttling setting of 3,000 citation requests per minute. A citation is defined as a single match request to the AMR service; each request to the service can contain up to 50 citations.

To request ID and password credentials to access the Links AMR service, contact Ruth Baker at rbaker@georgiasouthern.edu.

Additional details about the throttling service, as well as information on the URL used to access the Links AMR service and sample requests, can be found in the AMR upload service documentation here: https://help.incites.clarivate.com/LAMRService/WebServicesOverviewGroup/overview.html
