Overview
Due to copyright and licensing requirements, off-campus access to many of the University Libraries' resources is limited to Georgia Southern students, faculty, and staff. See below for specific instructions using the Libraries' resources. Need additional help? Ask Us!
Please Note:
- Logging into MyGS does not automatically log you into the Libraries' resources.
- When using the Libraries' resources, make sure that you are NOT connected to a Georgia Southern VPN.
Electronic Resources
To access the Libraries' electronic resources from off-campus, you may be prompted to log in using either 1) the Microsoft Sign In form or the MyGS Login form. Following are instructions for each:
Microsoft Sign In Form
If the Microsoft Sign In appears:
- Enter your full Georgia Southern email address (including @georgiasouthern.edu) and click Next.
- Enter your Georgia Southern email password and click Sign in.
- Complete dual authentication using Duo.
- Indicate whether the device you are using is personal or public.
You will be redirected to the resource.
(Download a pdf copy of these instructions)
MyGS Login Form
If the MyGS Login appears, enter your MyGS username and password into the form and click Login. Do not include @georgiasouthern.edu in the username field. You will be redirected to the resource.
Logging into Discover @ Georgia Southern
When using Discover @ Georgia Southern from off-campus, be sure to click Click Here To Log In in the yellow bar that appears at the top of the screen when Discover first opens. Failure to log in may result in some links failing without the opportunity to log in later. You will be prompted to log in using the MyGS Login.br />
In some instances, if you attempt to access a library resource without navigating to it through the library website, the A-Z database list, or a course or subject guide, you may need to follow unique steps to access the resource.

Print Resources
The Libraries offer a number of resources and services to help you access and use print and physical library resources from off-campus.
GIL Express
GIL Express is a service being offered at all libraries within the University System of Georgia (USG). The service is an innovative resource sharing initiative that allows students, faculty, and staff access to all eligible circulating material at all USG libraries. GIL Express is available to all eligible patrons through both an on-site (walk up) requesting service and a remote requesting service. If you are located near another USG library, you may have Georgia Southern materials delivered there. For more information, see the Libraries' GIL Express guide.
