Discover @ Georgia Southern is like Google for the library's print and electronic resources. Discover helps you find print books, ebooks, journal articles, videos, and much more from the library catalog, our research databases, and from open access journals. Discover helps you sort and filter your results and access the full text of the resources you want. For more information about Discover, see here.

For more information about downloading EBSCO eBooks via Discover, see this FAQ article.

How Do I Refine My Results?

Limiters can be applied to your searches in Discover before they are run, while Filters are applied to your result list after your results are displayed. To apply Limiters to your search, select the desired limiters from below the search box and click the Magnifying Glass to run your search.

After running your search, you can apply Filters to further refine your results based on several criteria. On the Results List, the All filters button indicates with a blue dot if filters have been applied to your search. Click the All filters button to add or remove filters.

After clicking the All filters button, the Filters panel is displayed on the right side of the screen. Use the arrows to expand facets and display the available filters for each one. Click the arrow again to collapse it. A locked icon indicates that filters are "sticky" and remain applied for your updated searches until you manually clear them.

When you are done modifying the applied filters, click Apply to refresh your results.

How Do I Access the Full Text of My Results?

When you are ready to access the full text of a result you've found, look under the Access Options menu. Look for the Call Number if the item is on the shelf in the library, or click on the Online Full Text or PDF link for the item.

Because Discover includes results for many different databases, access links can look different from item to item. If you are unable to access the item you are looking for, submit an ILL request using the Request via Interlibrary Loan link. Find more information on ILL policies and procedures on this page.

How do I get to my MyEBSCOhost folders from Discover?

Discover uses a new account dashboard which is unable to display custom folders associate with legacy MyEBSCOhost accounts. As a result, you will not see these custom folders in your account dashboard in Discover. Custom folders associate with legacy MyEBSCOhost accounts should become available in Discover sometime in 2025. Until this time, you will need to access your custom folders using one of the Libraries' EBSCOhost databases, for example Academic Search Complete.

How Do I Suggest Additions to the Libraries' Collections using Discover?

Discover includes many ebooks that are available for preview via the Ebook Central (ProQuest) database. The Libraries don't currently own these ebooks, but you may suggest the Libraries purchase a title if you think we should add it to our collection. For more information about recommending these titles for purchase, see this FAQ post.
